Eric Lindblom - '08 HOA Candidate Print E-mail

Eric LindblomDuring 1970 I earned a bachelor of business administration (marketing) degree from Eastern Kentucky University and started my career in commercial lending.  The lovely Linda married me that year and we are since blessed with three grown children and two beautiful grandchildren.

My volunteer work since moving to Big Canoe seven years ago includes being a First Responder and firefighter for Big Canoe Emergency Services, serving on the POA Safety and Emergency Security Committee, and acting as the Fire Corps Administrator for BCERT.  I have served as President of two Gwinnett County neighborhood associations. Actions during my tenure included an amenity upgrade review, favorable results against the county sewage treatment authority intentions, and a compromise on commercial developer zoning. All of these volunteer positions allowed me to see the greater need among us and to use what gifts I have to help others. Also, there is a good chance that you can't please everyone; so do the best you can.

I have an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy Reserve. My business career ended with my retirement from GE in 2007 after serving as a president of a business unit.  The last 30-plus years of my professional life consisted of starting businesses, improving results, and creating and developing human and economic value for four Fortune 250 corporations. Training and experiences during this time included strategic thinking, problem solving, improving customer service, setting and exceeding goals, working with government agencies, creating value, and managing through complex issues.

Most importantly, I have learned:

  • Mom & Dad were right about most things
  • Being one of eight children; it is not "all about you"
  • Relationships are the key
  • Right is right and wrong is wrong
  • The Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule cover it all
  • Serving is its own reward
  • Don't wear brown shoes with a blue suit
  • Enjoy the good and learn from the other times
  • The best solution most often comes after controversy
  • Laugh often (you really need to!)
There is probably someone "in the room" smarter than you are ...seek them out.  Listen actively
