Following graduation from Technical School in Germany, I moved to the United States and began a career in the automotive field. In 1974, I opened my first business, and automotive service center. Fourteen years later in 1988, I opened a second business, Atlanta European Collision repair, and I continue to operate both businesses today. My experiences in these two businesses have helped me to establish other businesses as well. Volunteering for a variety of organizations has been an integral part of my life. Since living in the United States, I started and became president of the Monroe Youth Soccer Association, I have been a board member for the German Shepard Dog Club of Atlanta, served on the DeKalb and Walton County Chamber of Commerce as a business advisor, and was administrator for the soccer division of the 1983 Olympic Development Program. This position was especially meaningful to me, and through this organization, we helped establish a competitive U.S. soccer program, and have taken teams all over Europe to compete. Ever since becoming a property owner in Big Canoe in 1999, I have felt it is vital to be a part of the community in both service and leadership. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding activities has been working as the co-chair for Oktoberfest for the past three years and working on the HOA Activities Committee. I used my past coaching experiences to help coach soccer in Big Canoe for the past two years, and I am a successful graduate of the 2007 Big Canoe Leadership class. I fully recognize that Big Canoe property owners represent many backgrounds, and a variety of interests. Big Canoe is a beautiful community and we are fortunate to live in an open and friendly community in such a natural setting. Our quality of life at Big Canoe should only grow and become even better than it is today-without taking away from the fine assets we have now. We need to open our minds and hearts and work together to keep Big Canoe a beautiful and inviting community. I am eager to become an HOA Board member, and I know that I can help make a positive impact upon the community-not only through my past volunteer and community experiences, but also through my genuine love for this community. |
