Hemlock trees in North Georgia and throughout the east are under attack from the
Woolly Adelgid
, an insect native to Asia which has decimated the Eastern and Carolina Hemlocks. Hemlocks are among the few old growth
trees still standing and play an important roll in the ecology and quality of our forests and rivers.
We've witnessed the damage firsthand on our trips to North Carolina and ask all of you to join A.O. in supporting the
Lumpkin Coalition as they try to "battle the beetle" and protect our forests.
4th Annual Hemlockfest -
The Lumpkin Coalition will also host the
4th Annual Hemlockfest, Nov. 7 - 9.
This is a special concert to promote the plight of the Hemlocks and raise funds to establish biological control methods to save Hemlocks
